

Malgudi Days
Malgudi Days is an Indian television series based on the works of R.K. Narayan. The series was directed by Kannada actor and director, Shankar Nag and Carnatic musician L. Vaidyanathan composed the score. R. K Narayan's brother and acclaimed cartoonist R. K. Laxman was the sketch artist. The series was made in 1986 by film producer T. S. Narasimhan with Anant Nag as the lead actor. Thirty-nine episodes of Malgudi Days were telecast on Doordarshan over three seasons, starting in 1986. The first season was simultaneously made in English and in Hindi. Subsequent seasons were made in Hindi, and have been dubbed into other languages. It was re-telecast on Doordarshan and later on Sony Entertainment Television, and Maa Television in Telugu. This television series was shot entirely near Agumbe in Shimoga District, Karnataka. In 2004, the project was revived with film-maker Kavitha Lankesh replacing Shankar Nag as director. The new series of fifteen episodes was telecast from April 26, 2006 on Doordarshan.

1. Swami and Friends - 01
In episode 1 of Malgudi Days, meet Swami, a nine-year-old son of a traditional Hindu Lawyer, studying in a Mission School. His best friends are Somu, Shankar and Mani. Rajam joins their class and is admired by everyone. But, Mani hates Rajam and wants to humble him.

2. Swami and Friends - 02
In episode 2 of Malgudi Days, Swami's father insists that he prepares well for his exams. Swami's friends make fun of him when he invites Rajam to his house. This results in a quarrel between Swami and Mutter. Things take a turn when they receive an invitation from Rajam.

3. Swami and Friends - 03
In episode 3 of Malgudi Days, with just a week left for the examination, a confused Mani tries to get the clerk's help. The children finish the exam and are happy as they have two months of holidays. But, Swami’s father tells him to study the lessons of next year’s syllabus.
