The terrible eighties

It is 1986. When Childline employee Ivo starts a conversation with the girl Piet (9), he gets a glimpse into her difficult home situation. Piet lives in a commune, which consists of four women, four children and one man, Bert. Ivo goes from one surprise to another, but what worries him most is that Piet and her best friend have come up with a plan to kill Bert.

Childline worker Ivo becomes more and more involved in the problems of commune children Piet and Donnie. Piet is concerned: the murder of commune leader Bert has failed, there are no more clean pants, Piet's mother suffers from depression and a nuclear power plant has exploded in Russia. According to Donnie, it is important that they run away from home as soon as possible, preferably to Belgium, before the radiation from Chernobyl comes to the Netherlands…
