The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames battled for supremacy from 1984 until the decade's end. The Stanley Cup was competed for 7 times on Alberta soil by a stampede of future hockey hall of famers.
2. Best Defense is Offense
The 1980's was the highest scoring decade in the NHL. The fans would remain standing as goal scoring was plentiful. The high-octane offense teams dominated the decade and set the trend.

Women have played hockey as long as the men. For many years women's hockey fell into obscurity, then in the 1990's a treasure trove of talent would emerge and bring the women's game to prominence.
