At the turn of the 20th century, tensions in Europe are rising. After the death of her son Norman John, Margaret, a young woman trapped in a violent marriage, flees to Europe with her young daughter Nonn.
2. Stranger in a Strange Land
Margaret works to make ends meet and return to Nonn. An opportunity to move in with a family and become a horse trainer finds Nonn tangled in a web of temptation and betrayal.

Now a musical performer in the streets of Paris, Margaret finds powerful backing from a wealthy benefactor.
