1. The Peace
Stockholm, The Day of Peace, 1945. A spontanious kiss between two strangers in the crowd at Kungsgatan will lead up to big consequences. The war has affected the business at restaurant Djurgårdskällaren, driven by the Löwander family. The son, Gustaf, finds a risky way to solve the restaurants economical problems. The sister, Nina, arranges a peace banquet that will determine her future. Chef Backe makes life hard for the new scullion Calle Svensson.

2. The Return Home
Peter Löwander comes home from the preparedness and has a jewish refugee with him, Suzanne Goldstein. Helga, the head of the family, dissaproves but remains silent. Nina's and Calle's roads are crossed once again. Gustaf covers up the restaurants catastrophal economi and shallow dealings, but the brother, Peter, starts to understand that something is wrong.

3. The Jubilee
Gustaf and Helga arranges a 50 year anniversary at Djurgårdskällaren to speed up the business. But Nina has another solution. She defies her brother and starts jazz evenings in the banquet hall. Peter confronts Gustaf about the restaurants catastrophic economi. Nina and Calle are dating in secret. Nina is annoyed when Calle gets in a fight with one of her friends.
