Series opens in the village Rahim Yar Khan with the story of a young educated girl Sammi Jutt who was getting married to Pervaiz Chaudhry, on the day of her Nikkah her brother Waqas demanded extra payment for their Mahr Payment (a promised amount of money paid by groom) from Pervaiz which led to a physical dispute between them after which Waqas killed Pervaiz in anger.

However Sammi's parents begged Choudhary Rab Nawaz for their Son's life and offered their daughter as a Vanni - particularly selling her off for honour killing for the sake of their Son.
