It is a nationwide search to find the best landscape artist. Filmed at picturesque locations around the UK, contestants paint National Trust properties for a chance to win a £10,000 commission for a British institution's permanent collection. Through several rounds, winners are selected to advance to the semifinal, and then to the final. Judging the competition are British art historian Kate Bryan, independent curator Kathleen Soriano, and award-winning artist Tai-Shan Schierenberg.

1. Episode 1
Joan Bakewell and Frank Skinner are joined by judges Tai Shan Schierenberg, Kathleen Soriano and Kate Bryan to find the nation's best landscape painter.

2. Episode 2
The contestants set up their easels at Trelissick on the Fal Estuary in Cornwall as they attempt to impress judges Tai Shan Schierenberg, Kathleen Soriano and Kate Bryan.

3. Episode 3
Joan Bakewell and Frank Skinner welcome the artists to Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire, where they have six hours to paint the French Renaissance-style chateau.
